Well, if the software is still protected under copyright law, then yes, it is 
illegal.

Did you transfer ownership to another individual? If not, you might be entitled 
to download and use the software legally. I am not a lawyer, so I may be wrong.

No. Any software that is still protected under copyright law is illegal to 
distribute, resell or use without the expressed permission of the copyright 
holder.

****HOWEVER****

(now that the legal mumbo jumbo is over)....

No-one really cares if you download a program like "Bards Tale" and use it. You 
cant buy it, no one sells it and the programs are damn near useless anyway. 
Asimov is FULL of illegal titles, but the simple fact that it exists is a 
testament to the fact that no-one really gives a shit about 10+ year old 
software titles that you cannot purchase anymore.

Also, don't listen to the agenda of some people who are undoubtedly gonna 
follow up on my post. They are all right-wing wackos with burrs under their 
saddles.
