What is a G32 Adaptive Firmware Card?

I bought a bunch of GS stuff. In the box is an expansion card labelled
G32 Adaptive Firmware Card by Adaptive Peripherals, Inc. The card has an
odd min-connector on it, which routes out of the GS case to a switchbox.
The switchbox has a Centronics-style connector on it. Does anyone know
what this card is for?
