Re: Visicalc, Appleworks, and the IIe Card...
I have a Macintosh Performa 550 with a IIe card inside of it. My Dad has
used a IIe since roughly 1979, and has LOTS of files that he needs still.
Many of these files are on Visicalc. (Yes, the ORIGINAL visicalc,
copyrighted 1979.)
<I can convert appleworks files to Macintosh real easy, but I can't for the
<life of me figure out how to get VisiCalc files to AppleWorks. There is a
<way, because in AppleWorks' Manual, it says that you have to use the
<ProDOS User's Disk to copy your VisiCalc Files to a ProDOS disk, and open
<them in AppleWorks.
<There is the problem.
<The ProDOS User's Disk will not read the VisiCalc Save Disks because this
<version is too old or something. After all, it is still using the 13
<SECTOR format!
<Is there any way to do this? I would like to use my expansion slot for a
<accelerator, rather than the clunky IIe card. PLEASE HELP!!
If the VisiCalc disks are in 13 sector format the first step will have to
be get them to a 16 sector disk. The DOS 3.3 System Master has a program to
do this. Use CONVERT13 to transfer the files to a 16 sector DOS 3.3 disk.
The using the ProDOS Users Disk transfer these files to a proDOS disk. You
should then be able to read them on your Mac.
