Re: Apple II farewell

Agreed 100%. A really depressing newsgroup, isn't it?

: There are many different reasons for this reply, the main being the
: inability for the Apple II user base to come together. I have many other
: reasons to which I shall list here.

: 1. The constant bickering and flame fest and shit wars and superiority
: complexes of many of the Apple II users. (Namely Nathan Mates, Charles
: Turley, Richard Bennett, Brutal Deluxe Software.)

Many different persons which should be treated individually:

Nathan Mates: I believe that he is a basically good guy with still a lot
of love for his Apple II gs, but he can be sometimes a little rude to
newcomers which keep asking the same questions again and again.
I would recommend that he answers questions only if he is in a good mood
and leaves minor questions or mistakes to the helpful A2 community.
Furthermore he is somewhat bureaucratic and tends to have a black and
white view, but he forgets that inquisitor-like methods may be indeed
the REASON for people to do evil!
Your horoscope: Be nice to all, even strangers and enemies.

Charles Turley: Simply the most kind, warm-hearted person which I have
ever met in csa2 and I bet that he is a big reason for some people to
stay in csa2. On the other hand, he gets flamed for his hobby to annoy
certain of the particularly egocentric star programmers to the death.
Your horoscope: Try not to use evil to restore good if other ways exist.

Richard Bennett: An excellent programmer, but a violent flamer and
member of the "Turdbag-KKK-club". Rarely posting anything to csa2 besides
flames. Also maintains an anti-Turley www page.
Your horoscope: Feel free to contribute good PD, but keep your flames.

Brutal Deluxe: Great programmers and artists but somewhat annoyed by their
piracy of their software. LemminGS and their other programs are great
works of art and people should not pirate them. I have bought LemminGS
and I think that $20 is far too cheap. But if they are not content with
their financial reward, they should raise the price to $30 or try to
sell their programs directly to the customers, they should NOT spoil the
climate with flames.
Your horoscope: Flames are countercreative, try to avoid them.

: 2. The inability for many people in this group to see the TRUTH, not their
: truth.

Truth, what is truth? Truth can only be subjective. Is truth the written
word on paper? Is truth some Ascii text on the screen? Is truth some
electrons in your monitor? Ask different people and you will get different
versions of truth? My personal universe are my eyes and ears and I like
being nice to people who are nice to me. That's all!

: 3. All the vendors that market to the Apple II user base that RIPOFF
: EXTORT AND OTHERWISE SCREW THE APPLE II USERS.

Well, I think Joe Kohn and many of the other vendors don't fall in this
category. Again, I am speaking about my own personal universe, of course!
Joe has been a friendly guy and I've never seen anything rude in personal
conversations with him. I judge him as a kind and sensitive guy. He has
taken great financial risks with his various Apple II activities, and I
will continue to support him. Of course, I can't tell others what
they should do, they must judge by themselves.
Joe's horoscope: Avoid losses, you won't feel them until they sum up.

: Many people over the past 2 months have been kind to me, Michael Elliot,
: Josh Smith, and even Nathan Mates. Everyone in fact has been helpful. Why
: you ask? I belive if I would of come out and said, 'I belive Charles
: Turley.' I would have been automaticaly exluded by 40-75% of the Apple
: community. That is the problem and that is why I am leaving. In time, when
: unity has been achieved, when understanding is formed, I will come back. I
: leave you all with one note. Our unity brings us victory, our seperation
: brings about our destruction.

Exactly my opinion. Since I'm busy in the next time, I will try to have a
creative break and study II gs programming in the next months. Much
better than enjoying Vogon Poetry. Sorry about any delays with my ftp site.
When I return, I may come out with something useful and I would be very
happy if I could return to a newsgroup with more binaries and less flames. :)
