I'm stuck in the TEXT GAME CYBORG. Can anyone help?

I rediscovered text games again.  They're great,  everything that goes on 
exists in your mind.  Use your imagination!


I messed around with CYBORG, and I cant figure out how to:

1)get the lizard his food
2)use the string
3)what are the slots for in the long hall?
4)Where do you get a light to see in the dark room (in the west metal 
passageway)
5)How do you climb the tree?
6)What do you do with the water?
7)what are the holograms for
8)What is the harness for? (The lizard>)


As you can see, I haven't got very far at all.

If you can give me a small hint that would help me continue playing, it 
would be great!!!
