: I'm about to have this very problem (getting a Mac soon). Anyone here know
: whether a Mac SE/30 with an 800k floppy and system 7.5 can read ProDOS 800k
: disks? If so, then I could download stuff on this PC, move it to the GS
: via PC Transporter, then move it to the Mac via a ProDOS disk! Possible?
I'm not sure if the SE/30 would have PC Exchange on it (comes with
System 7.5 and later...). However, just format a HFS floppy on the GS and
that should work just fine (move your data over on an HFS floppy instead
of ProDOS). If you have PC Exchange on the SE/30, then yes, it should
work just fine.
Oh, if your SE/30 has a SuperDrive, then you can just move the PC
floppy directly over to the Mac and mount the floppy there (again, with PC
Exchange). I do this stuff all the time with 2 Apple IIgs computers, a
Macintosh SE with SuperDrive and a Power Macintosh 9600/233. As of this
writing, I've setup an AppleTalk network (The old Mac SE is the File
Server! : ) ) between all the machines except the 9600, so I've simplified
matters even more. :)
