    Just to add to that, if you get Dave Tribby's two companion programs
for synthLAB, MIDISurgeon and waveLAB, you'll be able to convert and use
*.MID and *.WAV files with it. They basically add what synthLAB left out: 
importing of MIDI files and a resource for turning digitized waveforms 
into usable instruments patches.

    You can download waveLAB off any FTP site, but MIDISurgeon was a
product sold by EGO Systems which is now defunct. Might be nice if it 
were released as downloadable shareware or maybe Shareware Solutions 
could pick it up as was done with other EGO products.
