Try swapping the drives. If the new Slot 5, Drive 1 drive
works okay and and the new Slot 2, Drive 1 messes up, you can be
pretty sure that the problem is the drive. (Normally, when a 3.5"
drive fails to function it means that 1. the heads need cleaning,
or that 2. the heads are misaligned or loose.)
