I just wired up a IIgs to NEC Multisync II cable a month or so ago.
Let us know what model your monitor is so that we can be as accurate 
as possible.  I think I may have posted the pinouts for this setup to
this group.  I know I posted them to rec.games.video.atari anyway.
Can't imagine I wouldn't have posted them here.  If you are curious, 
search DajaNews under this email address.

In the mean time, I'll look up those pinouts.
