Could be. Schools use all kinds of setups (power strips, under-table
switches, etc.) to route power to computers. Possibly, a switch in some
utility room needs to be thrown to send power to the classroom's computer
area.
You could check the power strip or UPS (uninterruptable power
supply) the IIe's are plugged into. Maybe a circuit breaker needs to be
reset or a fuse needs to be replaced. To just check the machines, you
could try plugging each computer into an AC socket which you know is
active.
