ProFile expert needed!

I have two five meg ProFiles with the same symptoms.  When turned on, they
flash the "ready" light, begin the flashing that shows they are doing the 
startup procedure, but after that the "ready" light doesn't come on and of
course they don't work (they are of course spinning).

Do these symptoms describe a particular fixable problem?  Can someone
diagnose this problem and/or suggest a solution?  Any help will be greatly
appreciated.
