     Roger Wagner released a HyperStudio upgrade (3.1j) in 1993 which, among 
other features, included System 6 compatibility. The 'official' HS sound 
editing program is named "Sound Shop". The Sound Shop program in HS version 
3.1j works fine with System 6.01.

     Probably, you should get an updated version of HS (3.1j or later) as 
well as upgrading from System 6.0 to System 6.01.
