I typed in a program to do the same thing on my Apple //e and have tried
to convert the samples as well. The only thing I've found or realized so
far is that most of today's samples are 16 (sometimes 8) bit recordings
where the Apple's recordings are 1 bit. (Clicking the speaker on or off).
If some research was done on the file format of a current sound file, it
shouldn't take too much to convert it. Good luck!
