Old sound files

Remember that you could digitize sounds through the cassette port on
a //e? I unearthed some old sound files that I can still play on my
IIgs (set to "Normal" speed). Pretty cool!

I'd like to convert these files into a more standard format playable
by the GS programs (SoundStudio, AudioZap, etc.) and Mac/PC programs.
I know I'd have to set the rate to be pretty slow by today's standards.

The file consists of a series delays between speaker clicks (accessing
$C030). However, I don't know enough about current sound files to be
able to convert the delays into whatever format they need. All I know
is that I get static when I try to play it as is.

Can anybody point me to some documentation for sound file formats,
or provide some pointers for converting these byte-delay files?
Thanks!

By the way,
The source code for playing these old files is pretty short ($55 bytes
and that even has some NOP's in it where things were "commented out"
(ie not for timing-critical purposes).
