Many of the tools that make up System 5.0 are in the ROM 3, making it boot
faster (under Sys 5.0, anyway). Not sure how much of an advantage it
gives now that we're up to System 6.0x. Anybody know that one?
What actually makes the ROM 3 a better choice is a somewhat better
designed motherboard, which improves the sound circuitry, and better slot
assignment should you use Appletalk. Having a full Meg of RAM on the
motherboard is also nice.
The only drawback that some will point out is that a few (very few)
programs won't run on the ROM 3. This is stuff that wasn't written
according to Apple's guidelines, mainly FTA demos. Personally, I have
never came across something I couldn't run on my ROM 3.
