It would be nice to believe Apple still loved us in the 90's.
As you may have heard, thanks to a flap over your esteemed colleague's
work to reclassify Word Perfect, csa2 has entered a new age of Validation!
Nevertheless, it would seem a crass imposition to request a posting here, on
csa2, of the text of the official Apple, Inc. Mark Twain GS announcement
including the name of Apple's spokesman and his/her position.
Still, there is a bit of ambiguity in the statement "... Apple did
officially announce the Mark Twain ...". For example, did Apple specify that
"Mark Twain" is/ would be an Apple Computer, Inc.-developed and produced
upgrade version of the GS or merely acknowledge pro-][ efforts of some Apple
employees? Do announced specs/features resemble those of machines currently
known as "Mark Twain" prototypes? Was a possible release date mentioned? Did
the Mark Twain GS make the cover of any large-circulation A2 publication? (If
so, which issue?) ...
If the facts can be established clearly and with no taint of fudgery it
will, whatever the outcome, be a great help in resolving an old controversy.
