help with //gs-appletalk

I have only limited access here, took me almost 2 weeks to get back to post
this, so replys to the address below are appriciated.

What I want to do:
	At minimum:
Get txt files off my //gs, and into my Mac
	Would be nice:
To have the //gs linked into an appletalk network, and
be able to get files when I need them without hooking up
cables etc. for a one time deal.

System:
Apple //gs, Rom 1, Ramfast with 520 meg HD, fried modem
port (direct lightening strike, melted all phone wires in the
walls of the house etc., only lost the modem and modem port, have used
the GS as my only computer for 2 more years after this. Internal AE
Datalink 2400, very noisy phone line, can not upload to a BBS. No working
3.5" disc drive (a whole pile of non working ones), do not want to spend
very much money on this project. Mac LC, system 7.5, global village
14.4 modem external, zip drive.

What I have tried:
	1.	Hook up the two modems together, played with both
systems for a long time, ProTerm 3.0 on the GS, Z-term on the Mac, can not
get them to receive or send files in either direction.
	2.	Hook up the Mac to appletalk ( I use this at work and am
familiar with it), hook up the GS to appletalk (had to go to the
FAQ's, put ramfast in slot 1, used slot 7, )tried the chooser,
tried file sharing on and off.... never had anything show up on the
GS or Mac.
	3.	Hooked up the printer cable to the Mac modem port, and to
the GS's printer port, changed configuration so ProTerm used the
printer port and Null Modem driver, could not find a Null modem setting
on Z-term on the mac, every option I tried could not get it to receive
or send to/from the GS. Tried AT commands that might help, no luck.
I spent most of the day yesterday trying all this, shut down each time
before changing cables, etc.... with no luck. Can anyone help???
I thought of contacting Omega, to see if I could get a install program for
the GS for the zip drive, but in the FAQ's , if I read it correctly, if I
try to use a "GS" zip disc on the mac it will reformat (and loose all data
?)?

My local server will not allow access to newsgroups, I treid all day
yesterday to get into this group the way I do, from another freenet, but as
ofter happens telnet access was not available. I will get back here when
possible, but would appreciate answers to my home address if possible
rmarsh@mail.orion.org
ANY help is appreciated.
