I'm the opposite:  I like my memory and prefer to keep it uncluttered;
you won't find Balloon or GSCII+ under my Apple menu.  The only use I
have for GSCII+ is to un-BinHex since I've found BSC-It.

So you do find yourself resorting to stand-alone programs, eh?  :)
