Among other items, I got four MONITOR II green monochrom monitors at a
school auction last November.
One of the Monitor II's was dead-on-arrival; even the power-on lamp
failed to light.
I opened the unit last night. There is a one amp fuse, SOLDERED IN
PLACE, easily accessible on the units' left side innards, near the power
AC cable.
There is plenty of space in there, so I drilled a 1/2" round hole on the
back-upper casing, and fitted a Jameco panel-mounted fuse-holder with
one-amp fuse. Ran 15" wires to the blown fuse's metal ends, soldered
it, and covered all bare metal surfaces with shrink-tubing.
VOILA!!! The Monitor II lit up, perfectly! Next time the fuse blows, I
will then just remove the cap from the external panel-mounted
fuse-holder. Thus, next time I wont have to open the casing.
The fuse is one amp and larger fuses must NOT be inserted.

The IIC external power brick also has a soldered one-amp fuse. When these
blow, I saw the brick open along its mid-line, and install a
panel-mounted fuseholder so that the fuse can be reached from the
outside. Folks, its the only way to go ....... ;-O
