_IF_ the 80z is supposed to work on an upgraded IIe, then, one pure
guess is that the 1MB board is pulling down voltages at the motherboard.
You can use a voltmeter to check +5, +12, ... voltages with the card
plugged in. (You may, possibly, notice a slight dimming of the Power-ON
light, too.) If pulling some other power-sucking Slot card permits the
80z to work, this is another indicator of voltage problems.
If voltages are low, cleaning the power supply plug & socket and
making any necessary adjustments to asure good contacts may help.
