I have this happen with my 44MB SyQuest all the time and I do believe
that my brother has it happen to with his EZ135 also.
Personal guess would be that the Apple SCSI drivers have a problem
when they don't find a volume on a SCSI device on the chain and keep
on polling the drives to find it.
Although, I do notice that with my SyQuest, if I spind up a cart,
then spin it down after GS/OS has gotten a chance to recognize it,
I don't have any problems.
It's annoying, but you learn to live with it.
