     Be sure to check out Ground's AOL/Games/Adv./Roleplay folder. You 
can read the current list (named "a1rplist.xxx"-- i.e. a-one-rplist.xxx) 
and get descriptions for several text games in BASIC.

    One file, I think it's named "TXTGAMES.SHK", includes four or five 
adventures in BASIC. Some of these are pretty good and, of course, fun to 
modify.
