Several people have expressed their concerns as to the content of
posts to Apple II related newsgroups. I understand the frustration of
seeing posts concerning any issues which might possibly frighten away
newbies to the Apple II. When I first started to read this newsgroup, I
was more shocked by the wide variety of prices on items and availability of
more modern items (SCSI hard drives, Second Sight card, CD-ROM capability)
than the Nathan Mates vs. Tom Turley postings. I also understand that this
is a newsgroup and basically, anything can be posted to it, as such. For
example, we have messages concerning 10,000 nudes CD's, internet business
kits, and the ever-prevalent get rich quick schemes. As time went by, I
learned to scan for messages which concerned my particular areas of
interest within the newgroups and to pass up those items which didn't suit
my tastes. Perhaps the negativity will slow, but just as the get rich
quick schemes, will never go away. Thank you for taking your time to read
this.
