Information for magazine article

I am writing an article for Electronic House Magazine regarding using
older computers for home automation applications. The type of
applications we are talking about include lighting control,
HVAC control, security monitoring, even sprinkler monitoring.

If you have any information on using the Apple II machines for these
applications, or can point me in the right direction would be greatly
appreciated. Or if you know of anyone using their machine for this
purpose, I would be very grateful for that information as well.
