I've used daver's pop3 program (with gs/tcp) and it worked very well -
it pulled my mail from /var/mail/handel on my unix account to gno
(albeit very slowly :) ), but it requires the username & password, so
I haven't set up a cron job to do this regularly (I don't want my unix
password in cleartext anywhere). Daver's program does both pop and
pop3, which, while it isn't a SMTP server, is still pretty nice.
As far as I know, Abe wrote an incredible mail reader called metaphor.
I haven't seen it yet, but the source code has been given to someone
who's got a little bit more time to work on it.
In Christ,
Pete
