Re: how can I do to connect Laser Write II NTX printer to PC?
Alex,
The Apple LaserWriter IIntx printer is able to connect to a Mac and the IIgs
with AppleTalk connection. It also can connect to any computer with a 25-pin
serial connection. There is a SCSI connector that is used to connect a SCSI
hard drive for storage of fonts (to save time you could have all sizes of fonts
created in advance).
-=-
From your PC use a 25-pin to 25-pin straight through cable, put a null-modem
connector on one end (which crosses line 2 and line 3...and lets the two
machines talk to each other...no contact if they both are talking on the same
line).
-=-
Connect your cable to your serial port...normally COM3...(could be COM4)...if
you have a 9-pin serial port you will need to put a 9-pin to 25-pin adaptor on
that end.
-=-
Go into Win95 Control Panel and select ImageWriter NT as your printer, the
printer is actually made by Cannon...but, it emulates a HP printer.
-=-
Under Windows-95, the printer driver is provided by MicroSoft...Apple Inc.
web page even tells you to use the MicroSoft driver for use with a PC...
-=-
A friend of mine has the same set-up at home and it works without doing
anything to your AutoExec.Bat file, etc.
-=-
If necessary, load the needed printer driver from your CD-rom or Win95 disks.
-=-
This printer is a real gem, prints at 300 dots per inch...and looks much
better. It weighs about 68pounds....about 35kilograms...and you can feed paper
stock in through the back if it is too think to follow the normal paper path.
