   The 9 pin female connector at the back of a //e, motherboard level,
is a joystick port. It is not compatible with RS-323 9-pin serial
connections. You may wish to pick up a real serial card if you want to
do transfers; PC and Apple II 5.25" disks are incompatible without
rare addon hardware.
