I would suggest contacting SoftDisk and getting some copies of
WordWorks Pro.  It's a great editor, graphical, and the default save
is preset to ASCII, I do believe.  With SoftDisk cancelling publishing
of SoftDisk GS, most of their products have been lowered in price,
making it even easier to get a copy.

If I remember correctly, WWP is extremely small... It's a GS/OS
native.. err... a desttop program.
