   Put it in big bold letters on the top of the assignment, a sign on
the door, and announce it often. If they can't follow simple
instructions, either make them retype it or fail them. Better that
than doing the same thing in the real world.

   Teenagers *can* be taught to listen. [I once was one, and had both
my parents as High School teachers-- didn't mind it a bit, and also
have a friend who teaches at a High School in South Central. Yes, the
combat zone.]  No-nonsense grading policies may get you a lot of
complaints at the time, but if you warned them, apply the same grading
to everyone, and don't back off, you'll earn their respect.
