Louis, you might want to consider WordPerfect GS. It needs little
memory, is graphical, and will easily export as text.

If your students forget and save it as a WordPerfect file, any Mac
program that can open a WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS file will be able
to read the WordPerfect GS file.

Unfortunately, its status is not clarified to date. You can take
a look at the program from
ftp://www.apple.asimov.net/pub/apple_II/images/gs/
(or type ftp www.apple.asimov.net from UNIX and navigate). If you
like it, you can then find yourself some used copies.

Another good one to think about, since you require a GUI but don't
need a spelling checker, is Medley. I don't know where to get it,
as it seems to not be on ground.
