Without flow control, the port speed and modem connect speed have to be
the same. Also, you can't get data compression without it. So I'd say
9600 is as high you would wanna go with a modem without flow control.
So who says the SSC can't do flow control? It has ten wires going out, unline
the five pin ports on a //c.
