Nathan, I'm slowly getting used to your style. But anyway, toning down just a
little bit wouldn't be such a bad idea.
You should accept that there's a different point of view. Apple II emulator
users are primarily Macintosh or PC users who are used to a different
environment with different tools. The complete user interface, disk formats
supported etc. are implemented with a typical user of platform x in mind. These
folks are no longer Apple II users. They use Macs or Wintels. They are running
Apple II software for fun, well, and luckily some are even doing some
real-world productivity stuff. But still they are working with non-Apple II
software most of their time.
An emulator should IMHO make use of both emulated features and the potential of
the OS/system tools/hardware/whatever it's running on. If it's more convenient
using DiskCopy for making disk images, why stick with ShrinkIt? DiskCopy comes
with every macOS system release while some users might not have shrinkit
around. It would be plain stupid ignoring advantages of the primary platform.
Nevertheless, the ultimate goal would be to support as many file formats as
possible, just for the end user's convenience. But as long as we do not have
unlimited resources, let's focus on what is most effective.
