UPDATE ON WP STATUS - the letter is a FAKE!

Well, everybody, here I am stuck between two issues and left holding the
FAKE LETTER. The entire matter turns my stomach now and I'm having
nothing to do with any more reclassification efforts of anything at all
now in any way at all.

I'm really sickened, bewildered, confused and very upset about this matter
now. Here's what I've just found out and have varified for myself. See my
email from Steve Cavanaugh and my reply to him.

In short, the letter I received from Scott Gamon, postmarked from
Industry, CA, mail on 2-25-97, received by me by US mail on 2-27-97, with
a return address of: 320 DeNeve Drive, Los Angles CA 90024 is a FAKE.

I say to you Scott G. -> Whatever your reason for doing this was really
LOW!

So, do not send any shareware fee to Quality Software, 60 Lewis St.,
Newton, MA 02158. If you do it (or have already done it) it will be
returned.

I think and in fact I demand that Scott G. (Scott Gamon???) if - in fact
you are REAL at all, make some sort of post about all of this ASAP!
Sending me a FAKE letter is a low and disgusting thing to have done. It's
very clear to me (who ever you are) why you did it. You've disapointed me
and everybody else that was looking forward to the WP programs
reclassification as a shareware.

At this point no valid information is available from the REAL Quality
Software Company that Corel legal dept. informed several people of via
emails as being the legal owners of the program. Nobody seems to even
know where this 'Quality Software Company' is located or how to contact
them about the programs reclassification now!
Rest assured, I'm no longer going to bother with any such efforts!

I just received the following email from Steve Cavanaugh
about all of this. Please read it. (exact copy follows):

Tom,

I just spoke with Susan Adams at Quality Software at 60 Lewis St.,
Newton, MA.

She reaffirmed that Quality has nothing to do with WordPerfect, and that
an Aric Lindsey never has worked there. She also said she knows of
perhaps 7 other "Quality Software" companies, particularly the one in
California; they often get calls intended for them. She also said they
were not the Lexington, MA company.

I don't know who you spoke with (if you called the number you gave me
earlier) but the number I called is 617-965-2231. As I mentioned before,
I got the number from information.

So, as you can see, my post saying that the status of WordPerfect not
being settled still would seem to be the case, however much we would like
it to be different. I have a voice contact that says Quality in Newton
does not have anything to do with WP. You have a photocopy from Scott G
which says they do...but I have to trust my own investigation at this
time.

Steve Cavanaugh
