     Turning a Micromodem IIe into a NULL modem is, certainly, doable. 
Mainly, you need to end up with two 25-pin female connectors wired as 
follows:

Connector A/ Connector B

 1      -> 1
 2      -> 3
 3      -> 2
 4 & 5  -> 8
 6 & 22 -> 20
 7      -> 7
 8      -> 4 & 5
20      -> 6 & 22
.

     You will want to cut any Micromodem IIe connections to either 
Connector A or Connector B. The rest of whatever is in the Micromodem IIe 
does not matter.
