I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this post... if
not where? I have just purchased a new joystick, the
FIGHTERSTICK from CH Procucts, for my Power Mac 7600/120.
After following the installation instructions, I then tried
out one of my flight sim programs. Every time I press a
button on the joystick the system crashes with a message that
the system encountered an
unimplemented trap. Has anyone out there had any experience
with this product? I have heard a rumor that the joysticks
are being recalled, but notes sent to CH Products have gone
unanswered. Any info would be appreciated.

The PC Game Port can accept two joysticks. It sounds
like someone at CH Products screwed up and wired the button
to the wrong pin. Possibly, more than one button and/or pot
is also wired incorrectly. The correct pin-out for a
two-button stick is ...

           PC Joystick
     (15-pin female connector)

      [1]--------------- +5V
      [2] -------------- Button 0
      [3] -------------- X-axis
      [6] -------------- Y-axis
      [7] -------------- Button 1
      [4] and/or [5] --- Ground
     [13] -------------- Aux/Throuttle (optional feature)

It should be fairly easy to open the case and check the
connections with an Ohm meter. If possible, make the wiring
correction.

What you may discover is that a lead from one of the
buttons is going to a pin not listed above. If this is the
case, and there is no unconnected cable wire going to the
correct pin, it means the molded plug on the end of the cable
is miss-wired.

If the plug wiring is messed up, you may want to take
your stick back to the store and get a refund or a guaranteed
replacement stick. One of the features you pay for when you
buy a CH stick is the nice long flexible cable.
