HOORAY for AE! ProTerm is commerical software. If you don't want to buy,
there's some others - zlink, kermit, ...

yes, but unless it's a null-modem cable (probably not) you need a null
modem adapter. You can get them at Radio Shack or any other computer
store. try to find one that is DB-25 to DB-25. If you can only find
a DB-9 null modem adapter then you'll have to get a 25 to 9 adapter and
a 9 to 25 adapter too.
