There is also a device known as a "passive terminator" which has the 
distinction from an "active terminator" in that the p.t. is a flow-
through connector, whereas an a.t. simply plugs into the hard drive.

An amazing little device, it took Quality Computers about 3 months
to finally diagnose this termination problem (I had a hard drive
with only 1 connector and internal termination).
