GS and 3.5" drives? How to get it recognize...

When I start-up or reboot my GS everything goes okay, but then I get a
message:
bla bla bla ... GS/OS doesn't recognise this disk (in device
.appledisk3.5a) do you want to init it or eject?
and a bit later
...there are two disks named "RAM5" you must rename or eject the one in
.appledisk3.5a
I have tried to install all drives and put up all slots like they
should. But for some reason I can't use the 3.5" drives, except if I
boot directly from the slot 5.
What should I do?
