I think so. Paul's original post said that the text control
panel reads his 5.5MB GS as having 400K. This screams of a fault in
the expansion RAM (if he has a ROM 1). So I agree that it might be
a hardware problem.

However, I do think that at some level, it is worth learning the file
organization of the System folder. That's the only way to become
a "power user" of the GS. If my five year old mucks around with the
computer and all of the sudden, the GS boots up saying "Finder needs
default icon file" or something, I want to know what it means. I also
would like to know what I can or can't delete (for example, TS1 or TS2
depending on ROM 1 or ROM 3) to make more room on the boot volume.
If he had known that P8 programs don't like resource forks, he would
probably not have copied with them.

I think the FAQ would be a good place to put a "map" of the layout of
the System folder (with strong warnings to not proceed until the
reader fully absorbs it).

Info that the 6.0.1 is available from ftp apple in a form that can
be unpacked on a Mac may also be helpful to many and avoid the "no
binscii to unpack" catch-22 situation. (At least the older) Mac
drives can make the bootable GS 6.0.1 disks from those other archives.
