As far as I can tell, it was Dr. Tom who told Brutal Deluxe that LemminGS
and Convert 3200 source would be uploaded and made available for free.
And, it was confirmed that it was cturley@wco.com who uploaded and made
the files available. So, it is his fault that it got uploaded in the first
place. Besides, if you look below at what was originally quoted, Joe has
no idea what to do. "Blame it all on Turley" appears to be an option. It's
obvious that he doesn't want to blame Dr. Tom for the actions of those
people who downloaded the software.
: IMHO, it is completely wrong to blame Turley for what has
: happened. What Turley did was wrong, obviously. But did Turley go around
: to each of the people on the pirate list, and force them to download the
: programs?? I don't think Turley has that much influence over people. My
: point is that Turley did wrong by providing the opportunity to download
: the programs to people. But those people had a CHOICE: They could ignore
: it and do the right thing, or they could do the wrong thing and download
: them.
I don't think Joe is blaming him for the fact that "good" people
downloaded the program. He has a list, and I think he wants to give each
of those people (and they know who they are) to explain themselves to him,
which, I believe, has absolutely nothing to do with Dr. Tom, other than
the fact that he made some commercial software publicly available.
: Obviously, some did the wrong thing. I am sorry you find yourself
: in this situation, but things like this happen. I hope you will do the
: thing that you feel is the best, without compromising your morals and
: ethics.
