There are several possible explanations for the non-recognition of
your pics. Based upon PW Gold tests running under GS System 6, PW Gold
refuses to recognize the existence of any IIgs unpacked screen format on
an HFS diskette. On HFS, it will recognized PWG "PAINT" format packed pics
and Apple Preferred packed pics.
On a ProDOS diskette, PW Gold will recognize PWG "PAINT" format
packed pics, Apple Preferred packed pics, standard $C1 type unpacked
screen pics, and unpacked screen pics saved as binary files.
PW Gold will not recognize pics in the old PackBytes packed format or
unpacked screen pics saved as type TEXT on either HFS or ProDOS.
Similar results were obtained booting PW Gold from the original
diskette, except that the OS would not even recognize the existence of the
HFS volume.
So, if you want to use unpacked screen pics, you will need to put
them on a ProDOS diskette. If, for some reason, your pics are saved as
type TEXT files, you will need to change their file type in order for them
to be recognized by PW Gold.
