ProDOS won't boot: SCSI card w/o hard drive
I have recently taken my 40meg hard drive over to my Mac (listen to
the booing) and left my IIgs and its High-Speed SCSI card with no
drives. GS/OS 6.0.1 boots fine, but ProDOS 8 freezes during while it
searches for devices. This is a problem for all ProDOS versions I
tested, and removing the SCSI card fixes the problem. (I am not a
patient person when it comes to coputers, and I admit I don't wait more
than about 5 minutes to see if it ever unfreezes.)
I would like to leave the card in my computer for now, because I
have found the Mac drive partitioning software next to useless. I have
to partition my HD on the IIgs, although hopefully I won't do it more
than once or twicec more. For now I will take the card out of my
computer until I need it again.
However I am still curious if anyone has run into this problem, and
whether it needs fixing (I could try to track it down).
