Do you have the Apple II boot support code installed? I'm not entirely
sure what form this takes, as I haven't used AppleShare for years and
never installed it.

At the very least, you need to install the appropriate "Apple II Setup"
disk onto the server. This is a Macintosh HFS disk that is supplied
with each version of GS/OS, though it is not usually included in the
distribution disk sets. The latest version of this (3.0, for System
6.0.1) should be available from at least one of Apple's FTP servers.

Together with whatever is supplied with AppleShare, this disk includes
all the software necessary to allow AppleShare to support booting from
an Apple II, except for the actual operating system.

In addition, you will need to make sure you have correctly installed
GS/OS onto the server. This must be done from the IIgs, and involves
the Installer.

You need to boot off a local disk with the AppleShare client software
installed, then log into the server (you should be logged on as the
owner of the file server, as the installation needs to create files and
folders in the root directory which will be accessed by every IIgs).

Launch the Installer, go into Customize, choose "Network: Server
Startup", and install it onto the server.
