Disk Quest encyclopedia & jpegs

A friend has the Disc Quest Encyclopedia CD-ROM on his GS. Most or all of
the pictures on the disc are JPEGs. When he clicks on a picture icon, he
gets a dialog something to the effect that the JPEG is being translated,
but when the pictures come up they're garbled. He says they are all that
way.

Has he got a software conflict somewhere or a problem with the disc or
what? Any  suggestions would be appreciated!
