Well, y'know, that's what I thought. But a couple of months ago, I hauled
my trusty GS to the office to do some printing on that very same network,
but when I tried to drive the DeskJet with the LaserWriter driver that
shipped with 6.0.1, all I got was a PostScript error message. I ended up
printing to an overworked, dying, and about to be put to pasture
LaserWriter IINTX. That one worked OK, but there is a problem with that
particular LaserWriter that no one has yet been able to solve (after
replacing the logic board, the print engine, the toner cartridge assembly,
the drive motors, the transport...just about everything but the @$^! case).

So obviously there is some kind of problem with the 6.0.1 LaserWriter
driver...either the Apple printer is more forgiving than the HP printer,
or they speak different PostScript versions, or some such nonsense, so
that the GS prints just fine to the LaserWriter, but not to the DeskJet.
(don't printer manufacturers believe in using spaces? Too many ProDOS and
MS-DOS filenames, I guess...).

So I ask again: Is there an HP printer driver out there for the GS? 8-)
