I agree that Richard Wifall's EasyOpen is more superior to EasyMount.
It allows aliases to have the original files icon. But, EasyMount
certainly does application aliases. I have several on my Desktop
right now. But, with EasyMount you are stuck with a generic file
icon with a hashed border. Not too appealing and also it makes it
easier to launch the wrong program when you have several of these
aliases on the same desktop (all the icons are the same). EasyMount
won't do aliases of document files either -- another plus for 
EasyOpen.
