You need to install the Media Control Desk Accessory from the
System 6.0.1 disks. Then you need the appropriate media control
driver. The former owner probably installed that already.

Yes, but you need a sound input connector. You can build one
yourself using the schematic that someone posted a while back,
buy the HyperStudio package, which includes such a microphone
connector, or get a stereo sound card (such as the SoundMeister
from Alltech) which has one.
Then simply get a sound patch cord and connect between the CD-ROM's
output jack and the sound input jack.
