Printer troubles with GS

I have a IWII and a IWI. The computer is a GS with 6.0.1, Express, and
some other stuff, too. For some reason I don't get anything printed
out...
I have tried both modem and printer port, the modem works fine in both
ports, but the printer(s) not. The cables and the printers are okay
(tested with another a2)... I have tried to check out all possible
settings, but somehow I have a feeling that there is some setting wrong.
The Express keeps saying 'printer is idle'
