I wrote a program that would install the NSC clock driver into all
known (by me) versions of ProDOS which included 1.8 and 1.9....
I can dig it out if you really want the information, however, Apple
does recommend that a driver be installed after ProDOS is loaded.
You went on to describe a few time setting programs and their problems.
Do you have one that does everything you want?
I am willing to revist mine, update it so that it creates a system
file for installation of the driver etc etc etc IF there's a need
for it. It does everything I want so I've never done anything
more with it.
