NoSlotClocks

The NO-SLOT-CLOCK seems to come up as a topic here about twice a year.
I bought a used one 7 0r 8 years ago. It served in my Franklin 2200 for
years then moved to this 'real' //e. It has never failed once, even tho
the machine is in storage 6 months of the year. I think they are great.
I occaisionaly wonder just how long can that tiny battery last.

I also have a ThunderClock but it takes up a valuable slot so it's no
longer in use. The T.clock has only one advantage. The driver is already
built-into Prodos. That's not much of an advantage.

For many years, we had to patch the Prodos file on all our disks. Then,
every time Apple corp. reassembled Prodos, the internal addresses would
change and we'd have to recalculate the patch locations.
Lordee, I still have them all on file. (Don't ask why). :-)

When the SMT folk created their NS.CLOCK.SYSTEM, all that stuff went
away. It makes a flying patch to the RAM image of Prodos (any version)
while booting and doesn't touch your disk copy.

The only other thing needed is a way to reset the clock twice a year.
That portion of the old original SMT disk is still valid. There is also
a freeware called SMARTWATCH. I downloaded a copy from the Cleveland
FreeNet. A whole bunch of source files and other stuff and I never did
figure it out. :-( But then, I didn't need it, I had the SMT files.

If someone actually wants to patch their disk image of Prodos, write me.
tell me what version and I'll Email the instructions. DickP
